The system was designed to last 10 years. As the command center continued operation, the parts became harder to replace. Finally, the miliatary asked for help from M.I.T to redesign the control panel. The upgraded system fit into one small panel, increasing processing power from 1K to 16K. The newer technology fit easily into one panel, leaving the rest in the antiquated system blank.
