The climate and terrain at the top of Mt. Hopkins is very different from that at the visitor's center 4000 feet below. At this elevation, there is a alligator juniper forest, sustained by the higher precipitation rates at this altitude. A denim jacket was hardly warm enough for these unexpected conditions.
